Wayne H. Lee: From Refugee to Navy Veteran to Founder of Two Missions

Some founders build a business. Wayne H. Lee built a life first, and the organizations came out of it.

At fourteen, he escaped communist Vietnam on a fishing boat. He survived pirates at sea before an American submarine picked him up. Decades later, after thirty years of decorated service in the United States Navy as a combat veteran, he is an educator, an author, and the leader of two organizations with very different missions — and one shared instinct to serve.

A life of service

After arriving in America, Lee turned displacement into discipline. Three decades in the Navy took him through a career of decorated service and gave him the program-management and systems-engineering skills he still uses today.

Since 2017 he has taught at the Sweetwater Union High School District, where he designs and delivers programs that blend engineering principles with business concepts — hands-on learning built to prepare students for the workforce they are actually walking into.

In his own words, he leans on "my 30-year Naval career and industry consulting leadership skills, coupled with my experience as a refugee who fled communism 45 years ago, to restore values and reconcile brokenness within families."

Recognition

Lee has been named a Who's Who Distinguished Leader in The Wall Street Journal.

He was featured on Close Up Radio in an interview with Doug Llewelyn on March 31, 2026 — the episode is available on Apple Podcasts, iHeart, and Spotify. The feature was covered by EIN Presswire.

He is also the author of the memoir Gift of Faith: A Foretaste of Heaven, an account of his journey and his conversion of faith.

Two organizations, one instinct

Lee & Associates Consulting

Lee & Associates Consulting delivers IT strategy and solutions for businesses. Its stated mission is to empower businesses through innovative IT solutions, with a focus on exceptional service and sustainable growth for clients — the same systems thinking that ran a thirty-year military career, applied to the technology decisions that keep a company running.

Marriage and Family Enrichment Foundation

The Marriage and Family Enrichment Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit where Lee serves as Executive Director. Its mission is to enrich communities by giving families and couples the tools, education, and support systems needed to build healthy, lifelong relationships.

Having grown up seeing broken families, state oppression, and the loss of religious and personal freedom firsthand, Lee started the Foundation for a moment when moral clarity, stable homes, and spiritual foundation feel harder to come by. It is a mission he approaches the way he approaches everything else: prepared and proactive.

Reaching families where they already are

The Foundation's Heart on Fire YouTube channel is where much of the work reaches people. It carries educational videos and community content, and the Foundation deliberately closes the loop afterward: viewers are invited to reflect on what they watched and continue the conversation in the channel community.

That structure matters. It turns a video library into an ongoing conversation with families, and it gives the Foundation a growing body of real, useful material rather than a one-way broadcast.

Lee continues to teach engineering and business courses while expanding the Foundation's outreach both in person and online, sharing his story and practical guidance through public speaking, workshops, and the channel.

A winning strategy

Organizations that do well in AI search tend to share a few traits, and both of Wayne's carry them naturally.

There is a clear mission stated in plain language. There is a founder with genuine, verifiable authority — a decorated military career, a teaching role, a published memoir, and national broadcast coverage. There is a consistent publishing cadence in the form of the YouTube channel, and a community that engages with it. And there is a real reason to exist that a person can explain in a sentence.
